The design ethos of the “Uniquely Your” is to incorporate the characteristic and details of your special day; creating an album with design features that are personal to you, elevating your photographs into a story book for your wedding day.

How would my album become “Uniquely Yours”?

Adopting a cinematic technique call motif; refering to recurrent thematic element(s) in a film that is repeated in a significant way. It underlining the story and evoke emotions. The idea can be applied to the design of the album; every aspects of your wedding day, no matter big or small could be an inspiration; it could be the dress, the venue or the colour of groom's tie. These elements become design details in your album that has special meaning to you, making it personal and unique; just like your wedding.

Hannah and Rob's "Uniquely Your" album.

Album size: 16 x 12 inches (12 x 32 when open)

From what I saw at the wedding and what I know about Hannah and Rob, I decided to use some bold and unusual design elements for the album, repeated images that layout like pop art, using multiple images to layer images together to create depth and make the image really stand out.

I knew the conventional design of one photo next to the other is not going to cut it for this wedding image. The result is a uniquely designed album that was only for Hannah and Rob.

Chantel and Marc's "Uniquely Your" album.

Chantel and Marc were artistic and understood what it takes to make something special. I took the bold decision at using some dramatic design features and using native space to enhance the images on the page.

I have displayed this album at every wedding fairs I have attended and the reaction is always positive. People especially like the creative way I utilise to image for the background and using split colours on the same image. There are elements of more traditional design in the album such as the large single image spread and side by side images for the group and family portraits. However, the addition of the innovative design feature makes it a very special album.

Helen and Tats' "Uniquely Your" album.

Album size: 14 x 12 inches (28 x 12 when open), Image wraparound cover

For Helen and Tat's album. I wanted it to be a bit edgy but also elegant. Black was the theme for their album. I knew they enjoyed heavy metal and wear black most of the time. In fact, Helen has told me they met at a concert. I took inspiration from there then designed the album with some split image effect and used lots of black backgrounds. I can honestly say that the way it was being designed was truly unique and it is bespoke to who they are as a couple.

I already had a clear idea in my head of how I would design their wedding album as soon as I walked in the marquee first thing in the morning of their wedding day. It was obvious that red is the main color used at the wedding. I incorporated that not only into the design of the album but in the composition and color combination of the photographs as well. However, red is a dominate color, so I had to use it carefully. Especially because it featured a lot in the images already.

I used a lot of blending between the images and discreetly placed red borders around some of the images to keep the theme of the design all the way through the whole album. The result is a “story telling” album with elements that reflect their wedding day.
